American Revolution Connecticut Note 1781 Ralph Pomeroy

This partly printed paper money was issued to the Military Paymaster Ralph Pomeroy (1737-1819).
The petitioners are Moseley, Wadsworth and Wyllys who signed across.
During the American Revolution, William Moseley (1755-1824), Fenn Wadsworth (1750-1785) and Samuel Wyllys (1739-1823) are the Committee members of the Pay-Table, also referred to as the Committee of Four, in charge of the military finances for the colony of Connecticut
Issuing paper money - for wages, reimbursement for expenses or loss due to damages during the Revolutionary War - was only a temporary solution, the U.S. would establish its standard monetary system in 1791.

Morlon

"Concours agricole" (1937). A French Art Deco bronze medal by Pierre-Alexandre Morlon (1878 - 1951) representing Ceres, Roman goddess of agriculture holding wheat. Signature left. The reverse is divided into panels depicting poultry: duck, goose turkey, a pigeon (with a dovecote on background) and rabbit. The central panel is blank for an eventual inscription. The edge is stamped with the horn of plenty (Paris mint) and BRONZE.

Pierre-Alexandre Morlon is a French engraver and medalist, creator of the famous "Type Morlon" on the former French franc coin currency: obverse with Marianne - allegory of the Republic - with (Phrygian) liberty cap and reverse with horns of plenty.

Right STRASBOURG and the Cathédrale Notre-Dame-de-Strasbourg; left: Morlon signature; in ex. escutcheon. The reverse with warship, the name of Strasbourg and a blank panel for an eventual inscription between two branches of laurel leaves.
