Son of a modest lumberjack, Legras became the patron of the largest glass factory in France, which in 1902 employed 1,400 workers and 150 decorators.
Along with the three other great glassmakers Émile Gallé, Antonin Daum and René Lalique, he was part of the movement that created Art Nouveau
