Born in Charlesbourg, Joseph Ulric-Aimé Paradis devoted his life to the Brothers of St. Croix.
He was a teacher at Notre Dame, Montreal, where he started a workshop.
Some of his students became prominent painters; such as, Jean-Paul Riopelle, Jean-Paul Mousseau, Claude Vermette, Armand Vaillancourt, Diane Dufresne, Raoul Duguay
His own painting was influenced by his personal friend, Paul-Émile Borduas.
The concept, which lead the non-figurative works of this amazing friar is that God can be reached through abstraction.
