Two figures with clasped hands are facing each other, an old peasant bids a young man farewell, both are in shepherd's clothing, they are clearly linked by deep emotional ties shown in their expression and gesture.
Farewell was first made in terracotta by the sculptor Jà¡nos Pà¡sztor (1881- 1945); in 1906 he carved Farewell in wood, which can be seen at the Hungarian National Gallery, Budapest.
